چکیده Dust is one of the environmental problems that directly affects the performance of solar energy systems. The goal of the present paper was to study and model the performance loss of a photovoltaic panel under the effect of dust deposition. The experiments were performed using two similar panels with and without dust deposition during 8 days in spring 2020, Ilam Township, Ilam, Iran. The voltage, current, and power loss were calculated under the effects of different dust deposition values. Different regression models were developed to predict performance loss of the panel with dust deposition. The results indicated that voltage, current, and power values decreased by 2.35–3.33%, 24.81–78.46%, and 26.57–79.18%, respectively, with increase of the deposited dust from 42.86 to 236.94 g.m−2. Based on the results, there was found that the quadratic models were better to predict the performance loss of the photovoltaic panel with accuracy of 64.16, 95.89, and 91.55% for voltage, current, and power loss, respectively. The developed models in the presented research can be used to predict the starting time of the cleaning process or fault diagnoses of photovoltaic panels.
