چکیده According to the latest checklist of Thysanoptera in Iran (Mirab-balou 2018), the genus Haplothrips Amyot & Serville with 29 species is the second largest genus in this country after the genus Thrips with 34 species. In Iran, most species of phytophagous Haplothrips live on two plant families: Asteraceae and Poaceae. However, a few species have particular associations with plants in other families, including: H. herajius Minaei & Aleosfoor and H. kermanensis zur Strassen (both on Chenopodiaceae), H. tamaricinus Priesner (on Tamaricaceae), H. vuilleti Priesner (on Fabaceae) (Minaei & Mound 2008; Minaei & Aleosfoor 2013). Furthermore, a substantial portion of Iranian species may be considered as predators. They are: H. andresi Priesner, H. flavitibia Williams, H. globiceps Bagnall, H. kurdjumovi Karny, H. longipes Bagnall, H. maroccanus Priesner, H. minutus Uzel, H. phyllophilus Priesner, H. rabinovitchi Priesner and H. subtilissimus (Haliday) (Minaei & Mound 2008). Just recently, based on field observations, Minaei (2022) claimed that Haplothrips globiceps acts as a predator on various small arthropods on various unrelated trees or shrubs around Iran.
