چکیده Nowadays, textile wastewater has led to a problem for the environment. Decreasing their contaminants through a proper method is always one of the preferences. In this work, combining ultrasonic (US) waves and ultraviolet (UV) irradiation were employed for removing reactive red 120 dye from aqueous solution. Independent variables were irradiation time (20–60 min), initial concentration of the dye (5–15 mg/l), and hydrogen peroxide content (0.6–1 ml) at three levels. The results revealed that not only ultraviolet radiation was effective alone, but its combination with ultrasonic transducers was also excellent. The cavitation phenomenon and hydroxyl radicals played important roles in breaking the hydrocarbon’s bonds. Response surface methodology and central composite design used for design of experiments. They introduced a superior quadratic model for predicting the experimental data. In addition, analysis of variance determined effective parameters on the response. It specified that the initial concentration of the dye was the most effective on the dye removal; irradiation time and hydrogen peroxide content were categorized in after degrees, respectively. Finally, the optimization process determined the maximum dye’s removal as 93.162% with a 0.17% error in comparison to the experimental one at optimum conditions. Moreover, the validation of the model was carried out. The generality of the model was confirmed with a low error (3.8%).
