چکیده uranium pollution poses substantial risks to human health. As a result, the safe and efficient removal of uranium from contaminated water has become a critical priority. To attain uranium removal, a novel adsorbent namely ZIF-9-Mel/GO/SA containing zeolitic imidazolate framework-9-melamine, graphene oxide, and sodium alginate is synthesized by an uncomplicated process and applied on selective samples rich with uranium under various circumstances such as pH, initial concentration, contact time, dosage, temperature and coexisting ions. The maximum adsorption capacity of ZIF-9-Mel/GO/SA for uranium is 2297 mg/g at pH 6.0 and 25 ◦C. The ZIF-9- Mel/GO/SA not only shows a high efficiency in U(VI) removal from aqueous solution but also an affinity into uranium in a mixed metal solution. Adsorption of U(VI) fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir models that is controlled by a physisorption and chemisorption mechanism. The structure of ZIF-9- Mel/GO/SA is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopes (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive Xray spectrometry (EDXS) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and the proposed adsorption mechanism is investigated. The nanocomposite ZIF-9-Mel/GO/SA aerogel is distinctly stable for regeneration and reusability throughout five successive cycles and demonstrated an efficient removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution.
