چکیده Nanoparticles help different chemical enhanced oil recovery scenarios to obtain higher efficiency in oil reservoirs. Due to their unique features, petroleum engineers are interested in adopting chemical and nanoparticle materials as enhanced oil recovery alternatives. Nanoparticle-assisted chemical enhanced oil recovery scenarios have recently been used due to nanomaterials’ small size, easy movement inside porous media, and strong reactivity to parameters that mobilize remaining oil in narrow pores. Low nanoparticle concentrations with high efficiency and environmental-friendliness are the main advantages of nanoparticleassisted chemical enhanced oil recovery methods. This work analyzes nanoparticles’ uses in porous media during surfactant flooding, foam injection, alkali method, low salinity water injection, polymer flooding, and asphaltene particle stabilization. The application of novel and green nanocomposites in different chemical enhanced oil recovery scenarios is reviewed, and their relevant mechanisms are discussed. Nanoparticles can enhance oil recovery through wettability modification and interfacial tension reduction. Moreover, nanoparticles can provide foam stability, reduce chemical adsorption in porous media, and stabilize the asphaltene particles in crude oil. For example, the wettability of the reservoir rock shifted from being oil-wet (contact angle = 151°) to being water-wet (contact angle = 14.7°), and interfacial tension decreased from 28 to 15 mN/m in the presence of CuO/TiO2/Polyacrylamide hybrid nanocomposites at 200 ppm. However, the synergy effect of nanoparticles during chemically enhanced oil recovery can produce higher oil than conventional enhanced oil recovery techniques and recover up to 50 % of the original oil in place.
