A new palladium complex supported on mesoporous silica was successfully prepared by anchoring of 2-amino-3-hydroxy pyridine (2A3HP) on the wall of functionalized MCM-41, then reacted with Pd(OAc)2. This mesporous compound (Pd-2A3HP-MCM-41) was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Pd- 2A3HP-MCM-41 was evaluated as an efficient catalyst for the C–C coupling reaction of aryl halides with sodium tetra phenyl borate and synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)- ones. The catalyst was successfully reused several times without appreciable change in its catalytic activity
