BSA-loaded chitosan particles were produced using a W/O microemulsion composed of isooctane as a solvent, 1-hexanol as a co-solvent, and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a surfactant. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of non-covalent interactions of BSA as a protein, chitosan as a polysaccharide, and CTAB on fabrication of BSA-loaded chitosan particles, characteristics and release profile, and the presence in the W/O microemulsion was investigated using a turbidimeter. The interactions caused an increase in the average size of the particles ranging from 1.61 to 2.05 µm and were effective on the release behaviors.
