چکیده	A green and efficient methodology for the coupling of aryl halides without the addition of a transition metal catalyst has been presented. The biaryl coupling of haloarenes can be promoted by L-cysteine and potassium hydroxide. This is the first report on the synthesis of symmetrical biaryls under transition metal-free conditions.
