Increasing the world’s urban population along with the problems caused by living in the urban environment, has highlighted the importance of accessing urban green spaces. Outdoor public activities usually take place in urban open spaces such as urban parks. The present study reviews the benefits of being in continuous connection with urban green spaces as well as the role of these spaces on improving public health for the citizens. Moreover, this study considers reviewing outdoor thermal comfort condition as one of the features that affect people’s psychological perception of the outdoor environmental quality, including the quality of urban green space. The idea is that highquality urban spaces, and urban green spaces in particular, provide environments that encourage citizens to use green spaces more frequently and extensively, which ultimately benefits the whole community. In addition, the present study reviews the important elements that should be taken into account in planning and designing urban green spaces, to enhance individuals’ thermal comfort. In fact, this study discusses the main objective/psychological parameters that affect comfort conditions, aiming to show the important factors that should be considered properly in the design process to achieve high quality urban green spaces.
