Visiting literary places represented in stories or movies is one of the attractive types of literary tourism. Visitors to these places are fans of those stories and movies, seeking a more sensual and closer experience than the story or movie by being there. The place is an important element in the stories and movies, the way it is represented plays a great role in the impact of the story and can motivate so many interested people to visit the place. In this paper, we tried to answer these questions: what are the differences between representation in literature and cinema? and which of these two better conveys a sense of place? To achieve that, semiotics and semantics methods were used. The results show that each of these two media has its own unique capacities to draw interested people to their places. In the story, the sense, meaning, and emotion of the place are conveyed more powerfully, and on the other hand, visually attractive images and scenes with the help of sound, music, and other elements of the movie can have an important part in attracting tourists.
