چکیده Intercultural Competence (IC) is a critical capability in today’s globalized world, essential for effective communication and collaboration across diverse cultural contexts. This paper explores various methodologies and tools for measuring IC, emphasizing the importance of context-specific approaches tailored to different industries and areas. Among the prominent tools discussed is the Intercultural Readiness Check (IRC), which assesses individuals based on four dimensions: intercultural sensitivity, intercultural communication, building commitment, and managing uncertainty. The IRC is highlighted for its utility in identifying training and development needs, bridging cultural differences, and aiding in the selection process for multicultural settings. Additionally, the paper reviews other notable tools such as the GlobeSmart Profile (GSP) and the Global Readiness Development Assessment (GRDA), each offering unique insights into individual work styles and readiness for communication in international tasks and assignments. Of other scales and instruments for measuring and assessing learners’ IC are Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS), Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory (CCAI), Intercultural Adjustment Potential Scale (ICAPS) and The Intercultural Language Learning Profiler (ILL-P). The comprehensive list of IC tools provided underscores the diversity in assessment methods and the need for careful selection based on specific requirements. This paper aims to guide educators, managers, and researchers in choosing appropriate tools to assess and measure intercultural competence, thereby planning for improvement of IC, fostering more inclusive and effective learning environments which serve the development of learners’ IC, and provide learning opportunities that effectively enhance intercultural competence.
