This research addresses these critical challenges through the development, validation, and implementation of intelligent directional protection schemes that integrate adaptive algorithms, machine learning techniques, and real-time system monitoring to enhance protection performance for wind farm-connected transmission lines. The research encompasses comprehensive fault current characterization and modeling, advanced protection algorithm development, machine learning integration for real-time adaptation, communication-enhanced protection coordination, cybersecurity framework development, extensive validation through simulation and field testing, economic optimization analysis, and technology transfer activities that support widespread industry adoption of enhanced protection technologies.
