A new procedure for the oxidation of urazole derivatives to their corresponding triazolinediones was developed using ZrCl4 and polyvinylpolypyrrolidone-supported hydrogen peroxide (PVP-H2O2) in dichloromethane under very mild reaction conditions. This procedure is very simple and works efficiently at room temperature with excellent yields of products.
