A facile and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols via the one-pot multi-component condensation of 2-naphthol with aromatic aldehydes and acetamide or thioacetamide in the presence of melamine-Br-3 under solvent-free conditions.
