Abstract

To investigate the wheat density, and herbicide application effect on Lolium weed control with wheat crop in south of Iraq during two season (2023-2024), two experiments were conducted using split plots design in with three replications. The experimental treatments included: three wheat sowing rate at (120, 180 and 240 kg/ha) as whole plots while the sub plots included three herbicides: Pallas (pyroxsulam) 450 ml/ha, Atalantis (Mesosulfuron-methyl + Iodosulfuron-methyl sodium) 320 mg/ha and Axial (Pinoxaden) 1200 ml/ha. The results showed a significant effect of herbicides and wheat plant density, and their interaction, on some of the agronomic traits of wheat. As a result of interaction between of crop density and herbicides on the some agronomic parameters as number of spikes per meter , grains per spike , number of fertile tillers , grain protein, biological yield, grain yield and weed density were significantly according to herbicides treatment and plant density. The interaction effect of year and herbicide was only statistically significant for the trait of wheat plant height at the 5% level. wheat plant density and herbicide application was statistically significant for the traits of wheat plant height and wheat spike length at the 1% level and for the traits of wheat grain yield and darnel density at the 5% level. In the application of axial herbicide and a density of 180 kg/ha of wheat seeds, the highest plant height was 100.01 cm, the highest wheat spike length was 15.6 cm and the highest wheat grain yield was 5590 kg/ha.
