Some recent studies suggusted the benefical effects of mindfulness - based on stress reduction on stress reduction and perceived stress leading to the omprovement of mental disorders caused by stress . Given the female - headed households one of the most vulnetable groups of society was that need to studied . The present study was semi - exprimental study with pretest post test and follow up phase . The population consist of 400 female headed households aged 25 to 50 years covered by ilam relief committee. Both groups had similar characteristics at baseline . The mean perceived stress and depression scores significantly improve in the experimental groups after the intervention . Mindfulness based stress reduction had a positive effect on perceived stress and depression symptoms . It is likely also that the reduction in stress can improve psychological well - being and physical health .
