The hydrodynamics of a two-dimensional conical spouted bed was studied using a two-fluid model incorporating the kinetic theory of granular flows. Incoherent and steady spouting were analyzed and several hydrodynamic parameters were evaluated. Some parameters that influence the incoherent and steady spouting were investigated by the model. CFD model predicted the incoherent spouting in a 2D conical spouted bed operated by Liu et al. (Chem. Eng. Sci., 2008). Effects of cone angle and superficial gas velocity have been studied by the model. Comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data showed fairly good agreement.
