A one-pot condensation reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes, and acetamide or thioacetamide catalyzed by Lpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid-4-hydrogen sulfate (supported on silica gel) to afford 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols under solvent-free conditions is described. The advantages of this method are good yields, easy work-up, mild and solventfree conditions and inexpensive catalyst.
