Alerothrips Bhatti, 1995, a genus of Asian fungus-feeding thrips, is recorded from Iran for the first time. Alerothrips bicoloratus sp. nov. is described and illustrated from specimens collected on dead leaves at the base of oak trees in the Dalab forests of Manesht and Ghelarang protected area, northeastern part of Ilam Province, west of Iran. A key is provided for all four known species in the world.
