Abstract

Recently, nanomaterials have been widely emerged as insoluble supports for the synthesis of homogeneous catalysts. Among the various nanomaterial, nanopores materials such as MCM-41 have large specific surface area and high stability. Therefore, 5-nitro-salicylaldehyde Schiff-base complex of chromium was stabilized on nanopores MCM-41 (Cr-5NSA-MCM-41) as chemoselective, practical, biocompatibility, recyclable, stable, non-toxic and heterogeneous nanopores catalyst in oxidative coupling of mercaptans to disulfide derivatives. The synthesis of disulfides in the presence of Cr-5NSA-MCM-41 catalyst was carried out under environment friendly reaction conditions using H2O2 which is an inexpensive, available, and environmentally benign oxidant. This heterogeneous catalyst could be easily separated by centrifugation and recycled for several runs without leaching of chromium from the surface of nanopores MCM-41 or significant loss of its catalytic activity.
