In this study, a conical spouted bed with the draft tube containing fine particles was simulated by means of Ansys fluid package. The geometry was drawn by DesignModeler for two types of draft tubes, one with open side draft tube and the other with the non-porous draft tube. After geometry meshing and set up of the simulation for both types, the Eulerian-Eulerian model combined with the kinetic theory of granular flow was used. The hydrodynamic parameters of the bed such as particles’ velocity, velocity vectors of both phases and the bed pressure drop were discussed. This study showed that, generally, the flow regime for fine particles in the spouted bed with a non-porous draft tube is different than that of a spouted bed with an open-sided draft tube. Also, the pressure drop for the bed equipped with the non-porous draft tube is lower than that of including the open-sided draft tube. The velocity fluctuations for the particles along the bed axis were predicted for the bed equipped with the open-sided draft tube.
