In the present study, copper plates were friction stir welded with different welding conditions under shielding gas. The obtained results showed that the lowest resistance to fatigue crack growth occurred in HAZ and its hardness and tensile strength can be decreased by 29.2% and 18.2%, respectively. Also, increasing the number of passes is not recommended in this welding method, it is better to reduce the temperature of the welding process. By enhancing the passive layer on the surface of this metal, the attack of destructive chlorine ions was prevented more effectively and the surface corrosion resistance was improved.
