In this project I aim to better understand the algebra and combinatorics of symbolic powers and saturated powers of an ideal I in the polynomial ring and compare them with its ordinary powers. Mainly, I study the symbolic powers of edge ideals of graphs and the ideals with the property that the ordinary and symbolic powers coincide on the punctured spectrum.
