Life satisfaction expresses a person's positive attitude towards the world in which he lives.The purpose of this research is to investigate the factors affecting life satisfaction among the citizens of Ilam city. The studied population is people 20 years old and above in Ilam city. This research has been carried out in the form of survey and random cluster sampling among 383 citizens of Ilam using a researcher-made questionnaire. The results showed that there is a significant and moderate direct relationship between the subscale of religious adherence and life satisfaction. There is an indirect relationship between religious ambivalence and life satisfaction. There is an indirect relationship between non-religious adherence and life satisfaction. Also, according to the standardized beta coefficients, first of all, the variable of social capital in Ilam city has the most positive effect on the life satisfaction of citizens. In the second degree, the variable of religious adherence with a standardized beta coefficient of 0.136 has an effect on citizens' life satisfaction. Finally, the regression analysis results indicate that life satisfaction is affected by religious adherence and social capital. But the effectiveness of religious adherence is much less than social capital.
