Violation Grice's maxims and the indirectness is a global phenomenon. In this phenomenon, people tend to transmit their meanings without declare them clearly or move around the cases under discussion. People have the tendency to employ indirectness as well as the violation of the maxims while communicating with others since it enable them to profit various pragmatic advantages. As far as politics is concerned, these strategies are employed greatly by politicians on various political occasions especially on the political interview. Due to the influential role of the violation of the maxims and the indirectness in political interviews, this study was carried out to investigate the politicians ‘use of the indirectness and the violation of the maxims in political interviews from a pragmatic perspective. This study examined these strategies in two political interviews, one with the current president of the United States of America Joe Biden and one with the current minster of foreign ministry of Russia Lavrov. The information of the current research is contained transcripts of political interviews with two famous politicians. The transcripts were acquired from different websites of some T.V channels Like ABC, WASHINGTON (AP) , NBC (News) regarding the Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and ABC (News) Al Jazeera channel, In the light of the above the present study endeavored to: (i) Identifying the pragmatic techniques of political figures employ to achieve indirectness in the political interviews (ii) To discover whether political figures violate Grice's maxims and the reason behind such violations, (iii)Investigating the pragmatic motives behind politician's use of the indirectness and the violation of the maxims. (iv)To determine whether politeness is always a purpose for politicians to use these kind of strategies, (v) Discovering how others can comprehend intentions of political figures when utilizing these strategies. The analysis of the data has shown that political figures used indirectness strategies and sometimes they concurrently make use of many strategies in their responses to interviews' questions. Political figures commonly fail to follow the four conversational maxims (especially the quality maxim which is considered the core of truthfulness of any conversation ) to achieve a variety of pragmatics advantages . The interviewers' questions played a fundamental role in politician's use of these strategies.
