چکیده The present study aimed to investigate women's identity as represented in speech in western and non-western societies. To this end, speeches’ four women of American and Iraqi politicians in parliament and two students of western and Iraqi were observed to figure out the quality of speech content in different genders among women parliaments and students. This study employed a qualitative approach and employed discourse analysis as its research methodology. The data, which were gathered through the research process, were subjected to analysis by the researcher. The data collection techniques employed in this study included documentation. Initially, the author employed a video recorder to document in the English. Subsequently, the researcher transcribed the dialogues captured in the recordings. Following this, the transcriptions were categorized and organized in a data sheet. Ultimately, the data were classified in accordance with speech act theory. The content of the transcribed texts was counted based on Word Count was analyzed. The results revealed significant differences among female parliaments and students considering various categories of speech content. Western parliaments used speech acts nearly double in part due to the plethora of speech acts included in four speeches. Iraqi and western women did not use (accept request or accept invitation); they used pragmatic strategies (make suggestions, express regret as the same. Also, Iraqi women never employed pragmatic strategies such as order, threaten, and wish, western women used these strategies more; Western women never employed pragmatic strategies such make excuses, apologize, and make introductions in their speech.
