Conversational communication (Phatic communication) and its consequences on language learning have become an attractive concept for many teachers. Many studies have been conducted to investigate the effect of conversational communication strategies on language learning. The gap between studies related to the effects of conversational communication on students' learning and motivation prompted us to conduct the current study. In fact, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effects of conversational communication on students' learning and motivation. In order to conduct this study, a quantitative and qualitative research design was used to collect data. The participants were 42 English language students who were selected by available sampling method. To homogenize them and measure their competence and basic knowledge, the Oxford level determination test was taken from the participants. Then the Pre-test and post-test analysis was done. An adapted and validated questionnaire was used to measure students' motivation before and after the implementation of the training course, along with the pre- and post-test. In addition, an interview was conducted with a group of teachers to identify teachers' attitudes about the use of conversational communication expressions in students' learning. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS software. To measure the average difference between students in pre-test and post-test, independent t-test was performed. Post-test analysis showed that the experimental group performed better than the control group. In fact, the effectiveness of using conversational communication expressions in students' language learning was concluded. Students' responses to the motivation scale showed that their motivation increased after using conversational communication phrases. Also, the results of teachers' interviews showed that teachers support the effectiveness of using conversational communication expressions in their language teaching. They believed that this could make the classroom environment a friendly and anxiety-free environment that would help students learn the language.
